Warning:  Online Business Security

online business security pageOr the lack of it can surely frustrate your attempts of successfully starting one of your extra income ideas;  hopefully, you will live and learn after taking the wrong security pathway as I did; when I started years ago I had no online tutor to hold my hand and didn't know that earning money at home online was all about getting increased web site traffic, and reducing risks to my passive income opportunities.

I don't really remember anyone ever telling me that I must have antivirus software installed on my computer when connected to the Internet; but it was definitely a critical mistake for me to make; a little online business education could have saved me from myself.

Many of us were just like kids in a candy store when we got our first Internet connections; so anxious to begin surfing the web, but not knowing that there were hidden dangers lurking to steal our joy when we least expect them, Internet viruses like Trojans, worms and even hackers.

This was my first online learning experience about taking the right online business security pathway, and avoiding one of the most costly mistakes that a netcitizen can make, namely, not installing antivirus software on their computer; worst of all, the remedy is about thirty dollars a year for the most unsophisticated packages; I was so un-schooled that there were so many unscrupulous individuals online; but it is much better to be safe than sorry (don't find that out the hard way), take the antivirus software pathway that is the safest and least costly.

When I became infected, I had to actually ship my computer out of the state because I live in a rural state; my business pathways to success was severely curtailed; I lost most of my online data, and was essentially out of luck for a very long time, more than a month; is that what you want to happen to you?

It's kind of like winning a fifty million dollar lottery; you quickly deposit your winnings in several stock market investments and lose it all the next morning; that's how I felt when I became virus infected; in a nutshell, learn and apply all the intimate details before you begin strolling down this particularly dangerous online business security pathway half-cocked; if you find yourself in this virtual world and don't know how something works, please ask someone that does; what you don't know can have serious consequences, ask me---I know.

Security Issues

Overall, when it comes to online business education related to web enterprises and  security issues, web site traffic and cash flow should be the number one concern.

Capitalism is the the private enterprise system that our great country is driven by; to be successful and earn money online you need to fully aware that risk-taking is fundamental to all business and reducing your organization risks should be number one on your daily to-do-list.

If you are building a web concern, antivirus software needs to be installed on your computer and updated regularly; this software is a yearly subscription to keep your computer virus free of malicious invaders. (Ref expose)

It is most important that after downloading software that you are not familiar with, right click the downloaded icon, in the list that appears click the link that says 'scan with' and your antivirus software will ease your fears fears that you did not download a computer security hazard; within this list of security issues, I would be seriously negligent if I did not mention system restore and computer firewall.

Now System restore is one of your computer's system tools that will allow you to undo some of your unfavorable problems you encounter, in essence it will return your computer back to an earlier time.

Example:  One of the users of your computer inadvertently deleted a file you need; with system restore you can return your computer back to an earlier time and undo the deletion.

A computer firewall can help prevent hackers or malicious software (such as worms) from gaining access to your computer through a network or the Internet; a firewall can also help stop your computer from sending malicious software to other computers; be alert and deter all new threatening concerns to be safe in your online endeavors with online business security.

Another malicious form of software that can sneak onto your computers is spy-ware that can make a good day sour, the effects vary from slowing down your computer to revealing your personal information; some anti-virus packages protect you against spy-ware, however you can also download additional packages that can scan for spy-ware to eliminate them or protect against future infections.

Another important security issue is SSL (secure socket layer); SSL allows you to secure pages on your site so that information such as logins, credit card numbers, etc are sent encrypted instead of plain text; it is important to secure your site's login areas, shopping areas, and other pages where sensitive information could be sent over the web.

The first step to installing a SSL certificate is to create a private key file to be used with your SSL certificate; please note that this private key file must be used with the specific SSL certificate that it is for; this private key is secret and should not be given out; also, there is no way to recover a private key file if it is lost; * Removing a key will remove the Certificate Signing Request (CSR) and Certificate (CRT) if it exists.
